Activities and outcomes

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programmes offer a fully integrated curriculum that takes students beyond borders. Each programme includes at least two study periods in two different countries, and at least one of these must be in an EU Member State or a country associated with the programme. This unique structure ensures that every student experiences true international mobility while gaining a world-class education.

Each edition of the master’s degree lasts between one and two academic years, corresponding to 60, 90, or 120 ECTS credits, depending on the programme. Upon graduation, students are awarded either a prestigious joint degree—strongly recommended for its global recognition—or multiple degrees issued by the universities within the consortium.

To apply for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Applicants are expected to demonstrate English language proficiency, most commonly through the IELTS or TOEFL tests. It is recommended to plan for the test as early as September or October. In situations where test centers are closed due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a pandemic, applicants may contact the programme coordinators to request alternative arrangements or extended test dates. Some programmes also accept the Duolingo English Test, which offers the convenience of being taken online from home.

In general, a minimum score of 6.5 bands in IELTS is required across most programmes. The GRE is not required for any Erasmus Mundus programme.

Applicants do not need to contact professors directly. Instead, all information regarding application procedures, deadlines, and requirements is clearly stated on the official programme websites. Once the application period opens, candidates should carefully follow the instructions provided on the specific programme page.

There is no requirement for prior work experience, and candidates with at least 16 years of education (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree) are eligible to apply. There are no age restrictions, making the scholarship accessible to both recent graduates and experienced learners.

Importantly, a perfect academic record is not mandatory. Even applicants with a CGPA between 2.5 and 3.0 have been successfully selected in the past, so candidates with lower GPAs are strongly encouraged to apply.
