Objective

The DAAD fosters the development of specialists from developing and newly industrialized countries through postgraduate programs. By connecting well-trained local experts with international networks, it supports sustainable development, reduced poverty, and improved education and healthcare.

The scholarships enable graduates with at least two years of professional experience to pursue a Master's or, in exceptional cases, a PhD at a state or state-recognized German university.

What Can Be Funded?

The scholarship covers individual postgraduate courses in Germany listed in the DAAD database:

Duration of Funding

12 to 42 months, depending on the study program.

Scholarship Benefits

Monthly stipend: €992 for graduates; €1,300 for doctoral candidates (€1,400 from February 2026).

Coverage for health, accident, and personal liability insurance.

Travel allowance (unless funded by the home country or another source).

Additional Benefits (when applicable):

Monthly rent subsidy

Monthly allowance for accompanying family members
